Our program is avocational, for serious amateurs who love traditional wooden boats and wish to help preserve the history, design, and construction methods of this craft.
Learn the skills needed to build ‘Tern’, the boat pictured above. We’re miling locally cut coast fir in a sustainable manner, using a traditional approach to wooden boat building. We’ve just finished building the third ‘Tern’. The next one is scheduled for sometime in the spring of 2019.
Tern was designed by Bob Darr of the Arques School of Traditional Boatbuilding. It’s perfect for rowing and paddling on rivers, lakes, and protected waters like Richardson Bay.
