Celestial Navigation
Students start by learning the fundamentals of celestial navigation, the science of using our relative position to planetary bodies to derive our own position on the surface of the earth. Students are taught the use of the sextant and calculations with sight reduction tables. By the end of the class students take their own sun-sight and derive their location from it.
