MARCH 2008—THE ARQUES SCHOOL HOPES TO MOVE INTO ITS NEW SPACE AT THE SPAULDING CENTER BY THE END OF THIS MONTH, OR EARLY NEXT MONTH
The Arques School of Traditional Boatbuilding is pleased to announce that it will be leasing space from the Spaulding Wooden Boat Center, just next door to the School's present site in Sausalito. The School's move into its new quarters should take place by the end of March of this year. Meanwhile the Arques School has been working on rebuilding the sloop Freda, a heavy thirty-two foot sloop of a type that was fairly common on San Francisco Bay in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Arques students and graduates are presently installing the sheer clamp and shelf, while reframing the Freda with grown locust sawn frames.
Another main focus of the School has been to complete the sloop Loon for a mid-year launch date to be announced. The Loon will be launched after we move into the Spaulding Center. Meanwhile, all classes will take place as usual at our current site on the Arques Shipyard property. Class descriptions and schedules, application information for any of these classes, as well as directions to the school, can be found elsewhere on this Arques School website.

It will be turned right-side to receive its deck structure and rig. The Arques School hopes to launch this fast new lapstrake sailboat, a product of the Arques School's Traditional Boat Design program, mid-year.
